My name is Theresa Robinson also known as Mz Ree C Acure. Born, raised, and lifelong resident of the historic City of Gary, Indiana. My music is timeless and so am I!
I was born an artist. I began creating art in the form of music at the age of 9. Music came as naturally to me as breathing air.
As with so many artists, my music is an extension of my emotions and experiences, the joy and the pain. My first 16 bars were a reflection and expression of my anger for being sent to my room; punishment from coming in late. Which lead to my Hard Rock beat creations.
Though the artist in me was birthed out of anger, I have been able to translate the full extent of my emotions and my authentic self through music. The discovery of my love for music has changed the trajectory of my life. I am free to be me wherever I am and wherever I go. Music travels within me and with me.
My greatest joy is clustering words, adding a melody that tells a story. My music moves me and everyone who hears it. My lack of knowledge in music history and theory causes some to discredit me. I lack nothing. Nothing can diminish my ability to create great music. Great music only requires commitment, dedication, and authenticity.
Many artists have inspired me. However, my greatest influencers continue to be, the beloved Left Eye from TLC, Da Brat, Missy Elliot, Dr. Dre, Timberland and Emiemen, just to name a few.
I refuse to be confined to one genre because I believe my music is universal. Genres put limits on where, when, how & who your music is marketed to… I reject that box. There’s no box that can hold me and my music.
What I do know is this, I create music at the moment in time that I am moved to do so. I just want to release all that is within me, note by note, bar by bar, punctuated by lyrics that speak truth to power! If you dig it, come along for the ride. If not, move along and don’t kill my vibe!
